The mission of Bridging Horizons is to provide temporary housing and address the basic needs of domestic violence survivors. We believe that every person deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued.
WHAT WE DO
The purpose of Bridging Horizons is to fill the gaps in services available for victims of domestic violence. It stands as a beacon of hope for these victims.
The organization ensures that victims receive immediate assistance and access to essential resources. This includes money for rent, fuel for their vehicle, utilities, groceries, phone bills, moving cost, childcare and other unforeseen services.
1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men in the United States experience intimate partner violence
In Oregon, 38.8% of women and 36.2% of men experience intimate partner physical violence
On a typical day, over 20,000 calls are made to domestic violence hotlines nationwide
In Oregon, over 1,100 survivors requested services, and 80% of those requests were for housing
1 in 15 children are exposed to intimate partner violence each year, and 90% of them witness it
Between 2013 and 2022, 386 Oregonians died due to domestic violence related homicide
ELIGIBILITY : Individuals interested must be a listed victim in an open Domestic Violence related case at the Washington County District Attorney’s Office.
NON DICRIMINATION POLICY : Bridging Horizons does not discriminate internally (in its administrative and program operations) or externally (in provision of services) on the basis of race, political orientation, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, national origin, ethnicity, ancestry, marital status, veteran status, or mental or physical disability or any other status prohibited by applicable law.
